SUMMARY:Supporting Children's Social Emotional Development
DESCRIPTION:The focus of this five-part workshop series will be on specific strategies adults can use in the classroom to support children’s healthy social-emotional development. Participants will leave with a full “toolbox” of strategies to use\, together with all the resources and materials (shared through a Google Drive) they will need to begin using these strategies right away. \nThe training is organized around the basic framework of the Pyramid Model and Pyramid Plus Approach\, but will go deeper into exactly what teachers can do in the classroom to ensure that the essential elements of that framework are being implemented with high fidelity and effectiveness. In addition to what is traditionally taught in Pyramid trainings\, it will draw on other sources (such as Conscious Discipline\, the Harvard Center for the Developing Child\, and Learning In Nurturing Communities [LINC]) to ensure that participants leave with a wide variety of specific and targeted strategies they can start using immediately. \nSeries: Tuesdays and Thursdays 10/5/2021 – 11/4/2021

SUMMARY:Social-Emotional Skill Building through Engineering Mindset
DESCRIPTION:In this unique 6-part professional learning community (PLC)\, we will explore how to use an engineering mindset as a tool to teach social-emotional skills like self-regulation\, perseverance\, and collaboration that benefit children in all areas of learning and life. “Engineering Mindset” and problem-based learning is widely recognized as a natural fit in building social-emotional skills in children with diverse learning needs\, especially those with social-emotional challenges. Designed for teachers of infant through school-age children\, participants are provided a free starter kit that we will build upon during our time together.
